Marc Jacobs Jezebel is stunning. I would classify this as an oxblood sort of colour. Sephora describes it as black cherry red.
That being said, Jezebel does look like black cherries. I know I always have some sort of segue in my reviews and I won’t disappoint you so here’s my segue, I love black cherries. Cherries are my favourite fruit and even though they are only around for a short time of the year, I can eat copious amounts of them (and face the gut-wrenching repercussions).
In the bottle, Jezebel is deep and dark. I love how on the super dark colours out of the Marc Jacobs line, he has Marc Jacobs written in silver so it pops against the dark colour. How very clever! I swear, Mr Jacobs has thought of everything.
On the nail the colour really works with my skintone. I mentioned in my review of Marc Jacobs Lola that red is my colour and that I can pull of any red. I think the nail swatches show how really pretty this colour is against a pale skintone but I suspect that this colour in particular would look equally as spectacular against any skintone.
These are two coats of colour over basecoat (just in case to prevent staining of my nail bed). There is no top coat on these and the glossiness seen is the awesome Marc Jacobs formula. Jezebel is extremely pigmented and you could easily do a single coat on this one because it provides excellent coverage.
I truly love this colour for its vampiness and its sophistication. It looks so polished and professional. Jezebel is sexy but in a more understated way to Lola. Mr Swatchfest commented on Jezebel too, saying it was a “wow” shade too. You know that it has got to be a winner when a man says something about nail polish.
