Petra is a gorgeous smokey polish. Sephora describes it as a “dirty bronze”. I think it looks like it’s made up of crushed rocks, which is appropriate given that Petra means rock.
Take a look at the pretty:
The following swatches are all two coats, not top or base coats. Isn’t is shimmery, gorgeous perfection? It looks like some sort of precious metal with all the different shimmery colours going on, like you picked up a rock that had tiny bits of metal embedded in it.
It catches the light beautifully and is dark, but not too dark that you can’t appreciate the beauty. I found this colour was easy to apply, non streaky, super glossy and more importantly, easy to remove. Sometimes these shimmery / glittery polishes can be very difficult to remove (as they shred your removal pads, don’t you hate that?), but Petra was easy to remove and left no residue or stains.
In the bottle the shimmer is spectacular. When I receive the full Marc Jacobs collection and started opening the boxes to see the bottles, Petra was one of the ones that I went “ooooh” and “aaaaah” over. I even showed Mr Swatchfest who also “ooooohed” and “aaaaahed”. That’s a measure of a pretty polish. It is also unique in my stash.
All in all I really love Petra. I can’t fault the formula, the coverage is great and the colour is just superb and unique.
